Bellator 250: Mousasi vs. Lima

ree

Mousasi: "The Dreamcatcher" has an outstanding pro record of 46-7 dating back to his debut in 2003. Beating the likes of Thiago Santos, Vitor Belfort, Uriah Hall, Chris Weidman, and Rory MacDonald. Mousasi has been known as one of the best Middleweights in all of MMA. But within the past 2 years, it's hard to say he has looked like the same fighter. With clearly losing the Bellator strap to Rafael Lovato JR and then barely getting past the 45-year-old Lyoto Machida in a split decision victory. In this fight, his safest way to victory is to stay at bay, use his grappling edge over Lima, and coast to a decision victory. If he gets the fight to the ground he will have an advantage but that is easier said than done.

Lima: The current 170-pound champ Douglas Lima is moving up a division in hopes of becoming a 2 division champ. He has been on a hot streak of late after avenging his 2 losses to Andrey Koreshkov and Rory MacDonald. Convincing beating them both while also throwing in a viral knockout over the rising star Michael Venom Paige. Bellator had very high hopes for MVP to be the next big thing and Lima cleaned him in the 2nd. The key to success in this fight is for Douglas to impose his power and use his heavy calf kicks. He is the much more hungrier fighter in this situation and everything is pointing up for the phenom. Some concerns I have for Lima are his lack of output but every strike he throws has intentions of putting you to sleep. I feel if he sticks to his gameplan with a power heavy attack, he can put away the declining Mousasi.

The pick: Lima +140 or better
